US Customers Can Now Buy Bitcoin on PayPal, Wait List Lifted

PayPal has announced that it will be removing its waiting list for cryptocurrency services.

Move follows bombshell Oct. 22 announcement that the payment service would be adding support for cryptocurrencies. 

It’s currently unclear whether service will be offered to customers outside of U.S. 

PayPal is removing its waiting list for crypto services, allowing all United States users to buy and sell Bitcoin. 

The payment service made headlines last month when it announced its plans to support digital currencies. 

While it was initially proposed that there would be a waiting list for customers interested in obtaining crypto, the company has since opened up the service to all eligible U.S. customers.

The Block also reports that purchase limits have been increased, allowing U.S. buyers to purchase up to $20,000 in cryptoassets per week (it was initially set to $10,000, before being increased to $15,000 shortly after). 

While it’s currently unknown whether the service will be expanded globally, all signs point to the payment giant doubling down on cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ether.

Belarusbank Launches Cryptocurrency Exchange Service

At the beginning of last year, the director of the Belarusian Bank, Viktor Ananich, stated that his lending organization plans to launch its own cryptocurrency platform.

This week, the bank’s press service announced that the digital currency exchange service will be launched in partnership with White Bird.

As of November 13, 2020, customers of the credit institution, who have Visa cards, will be able to buy and sell bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies.

At the moment, users of the service can be citizens of Belarus and the Russian Federation. In the near future, the bank plans to expand the geography of the service to transact digital assets that may be citizens and from other countries.

The Belarusbank press center specified that it is possible to exchange BTC and other currencies for Russian and Belarusian rubles, as well as for US dollars and euros. The list of available cryptocurrencies will gradually expand.

White Bird, a partner of Belarusbank, offers services for the exchange of cryptocurrencies for fiat money strictly within the framework of Belarusian legislation (Decree No. 8 “On the development of the digital economy”).

The bank also noted that this company is currently the only legal operator of cryptocurrency transactions in the CIS area, as well as in Ukraine and Georgia. Additionally, White Bird is a resident of the Hi-Tech Park.
